Inspired by Wong Kar Wai’s In the Mood for Love, Resort 26 is a cinematic exploration of longing, restraint, and emotional complexity, distilled into a wardrobe that is at once evocative and modern. Set against the sultry backdrop of 1960s Hong Kong, the film’s impact lies not just in its narrative but in its highly stylised aesthetic: saturated in reds and sepia, steeped in melancholy, and anchored in the quiet intensity of its costuming. It is this interplay of romance and restraint - told through tailoring, rouleau fastenings, texture and tone - that forms the foundation of the collection.
Silhouette & Structure
Echoing the elegance of Maggie Cheung’s iconic cheongsams, this season sees the ANNA QUAN woman embrace long-line silhouettes and sculptural high necklines. Our signature precision tailoring returns, but is reimagined with undone waistbands and self-pleated shirts - a nod to deconstruction and the quiet rebellion simmering beneath surface elegance. The Martha dress makes a statement: a high-neck column framed in eyelash Chantilly lace, evoking both delicacy and strength. Across the collection, neckline fastenings inspired by rouleau loops and traditional closures become tactile signifiers of intimacy and craft.
Fabric & Finish
The textile palette draws directly from the film’s rich visual language. Bold floral lace motifs, brocade eveningwear, and classic wool suiting are paired with light cotton layers that reinterpret the timeless trench coat - offered as shirting, or as a soft shell worn open in the heat.
Lace becomes a character in itself - florals are scaled up, appliquéd boldly. The tonal palette pays homage to the red corridors and warm shadows of Wong Kar Wai’s cinematography: think, deep red, khaki green, and dark navy.
Mood & Muse
At the heart of In the Mood for Love is an unconsummated love story - a relationship borne out of betrayal, but never fully realised. Resort 26 channels this tension through garments that are sensual yet reserved, opulent yet minimal. There’s power in what’s withheld. Every piece is designed to feel like a memory- soft, sculptural, fleeting.
The result is a wardrobe of modern romance: for women who live in between moments, where nothing is said but everything is felt.
