How did you discover ANNA QUAN, and what were your first impressions of the label?
Anna and I started working together relatively early on in her career… I was familiar with her interestingly layered pieced together shirting and felt it was very in line with my personal style…
How would you describe Anna’s signature aesthetic, and what elements of the label are you personally drawn to?
Anna’s signature is relaxed tailoring which I am very drawn to… The label has definitely become a little less complicated in terms of the styling of looks in the past 4-5 years, but all in all it has stayed very true to it’ heritage.
As an established Stylist, what do you believe are the label’s defining editorial pieces?
Anna always creates great coats, three piece suits and dresses which I think translate really well editorially.
ANNA QUAN’S runway shows are highly anticipated within the industry and consumer arenas. What creative show directives are deployed to convey the label’s defining mood from a creative and styling perspective?
We tend to work in a polished hair and makeup look to elevate the collection and display how the looks can work right through from day-to-night. The music/playlist is also super important and we ensure it is compiled of tracks that aren’t super recognisable but instil an uplifting mood and leave the audience with a positive memory…
What do you find empowering about the label?
I think the label is the perfect mix of masculine and feminine and both wearable and premium in it’s look and feel.
How do you believe that the label has evolved during the last 10 years, and what do you admire most about this evolution?
Anna Quan has developed in to a staple Australian label for the working woman. Her suits and shirting are the perfect edition to every woman’s working wardrobe and her knitwear and colour palettes feel fresh for weekend wear seasons in and season out.
This indepth discussion continues the celebration of ANNA QUAN's milestone 10 year anniversary, along with the release of never before seen content, an unveiling of our logo rebrand, and an updated take on the label's most iconic shirt, the White Anne Shirt.
